A Careless Whisper

Written: 22/05/2011

I want to sing softly over you
In hushed innuendo tell you
Through the silence of a long embrace
In the moments our fingers might interlace

About secret places & the waning storm
Of evanescent woes & things warm
About the solace in a friends affections
And my soul that casts a perfect reflection

Why am I so afraid to say that you are
Perfectly lovely; make me feel peaceful & bubbly

All it would take is a careless whisper
A slip of the tongue, a spoken breath

But I am stumbling in an alien realm
Love drunk at this ship's helm
Confidence in poverty not common wealth
A far cry from my usual self
