A Foreigner in a strange land

Written: 15/05/2011

I walk beside the road, listening to the people speak
The odd word do I understand but I am a foreigner this week
Far from my regular home embracing life at a slower pace
Heads are turning, confounded looks but mostly smiles on their face

The kindness shown is somewhat astounding
The generosity quite honestly puts me to shame

In the small town of Burrel surrounded by mountain tops
With the quiet bustle of people in the cafés & shops
Children outside, no chance of them being hidden
Cars cruising past & motorcycles being ridden
Games being played & there's laughter in the air
I am a foreigner yet in their family I am welcome to share
