An Old and Dusty Friend

Written: 09/10/2011

My afternoon spent in a comfy armchair
A book in my lap and a none too focused stare

Battling between two states: awake and comatose
This book is fascinating but my eyes just wish to close

The shadows slowly sneaking from one side to the other
The [candle's] flickering flame falling 'til at last smother

My drink gradually draining only to be filled once more
An ear listening out for a rapping at my door

A quick chat in passing, divergence from my wend
So I return to my reading this old and dusty friend
