Captain of my own ship

Written: 09/04/2012

Let us set sail for more pleasant lands
Safe as I am steered by Your hands
Across the ocean of life, stills and storms
Your peace my very core it warms

Rather I took captain of my own ship
Mutiny aboard is but the ice-burg's tip
Blood stained the moon red
Left here abandoned instead

In contempt set my face upon war
Disregarding all that has come before
Watch me draw a line in the ground
That all may know how far I am bound

Tie me to the mast as I go down
In pride cling to my stolen crown

Oh such travesty to look at what I have become
Such a horrid sight to behold all I have done

I have wronged You immeasurable times
Can I be forgiven of these heinous crimes?
Did I become detached from the God I know
From the statues decide their heart to borrow?

Yet keep the faces of a theatre actor
Parading about as if nothings the matter
How great this God that is mindful of man?
Written each one into His glorious plan

Would so forgive all that I have done
By casting His wrath on His willing Son
For me went down to the grave
In His resurrection my life did save
