Confessions of a sinful man

Written: 27/02/2013

I am weak and sinful, selfish at my best
Never quite knowing which love to attest
I am whole yet feel broken, slave yet free
Still I give ear to him who has no power over me

An old master who lies in every verse
Rules those marked by the Lord's curse
Lying in wait to rise and snare in his trap
Hoping, to him, I will turn and go back

But the Lord is my witness, my strength, and salvation
To Him, my life, in fervent dedication
Yet conflict arises to split open my heart
Only one can I love the other must depart

In the moment do I wane, turn from light
Instead of picking up my armour to fight
Look at me Lord, bright shining in face
Save me from sinning by your amazing grace
