Elsewhere with you

The sun broke through the clouds as I raised my hand to knock
A passing chill hangs in the breeze
Filled with freshness brought by cleansing rain
A sun drenched afternoon is a welcomed change
We walk toward the Abbey's ruins
There, set on newly cut grass, greeted by flowers and trees
Both in full bloom as only Spring allows
Vivid pink, like carnival candyfloss, and white as a dove
We venture away from the grounds
Waltzing beside the soft sound of a slowly flowing river
Ducking under branches and leaping over logs
Hidden by steep banks and leaves
We find our way back past the old church, the crumbling stones
To the cafe across the road, and sit to enjoy a cup of British nectar
But all that I saw was not for I was lost in your eyes
Amidst your anecdotes, captivated by conversation, elsewhere with you
