In the Wake

Written: 07/04/2013

In the wake with those left behind
More than a solitary tear topples down my face
Bright are the memories that I find
When I look, in my heart, at your place

A cheerful voice is what I expect
To come floating in at any moment
Yet these empty halls can only recollect
Your life, from us, which has been rent

On a greater hope, our promised course
That together with you and Christ
Your life lost was no heist
But we shall spend eternity at joy's source

We miss your voice and your bright smile
Yet your departure is but for a while
