Inspiration is a conceited mistress
but one you should know
She does not warn you when she's coming
nor when she's about to go

Like a thief in the night she comes
without warning in the darkest hour
But when she arrives she is finely dressed
like a beautiful wild flower

So be alert, stay on your guard
And ever be prepared
To receive what has got for you
Ideas & gifts to be shared

Do not hesitate to remember
make note right away
Like the wind they cannot be held
From perfection you'll stray
