Locked Out
Written: 19/05/2011
I approach the threshold and knock.
A lack of response comes as a shock.
To the barrier at the front of my brothers house.
I have no key with power to unlock.
Turn around, sit and begin to wait.
For how long? I deliberate my fate.
Breathe in, breathe out, coldness creeps quieter than a mouse.
I huddle outside this one estate.
Out comes my guitar to pass the time.
Music rises and confidence climbs.
Finally my brother arrives followed by his spouse.
The wisecracker throws me the odd dime.
