Man Does Attest

Written: 08/05/2014

Arrived here, in Paris, like London but in French
Walking, somewhat lost, looking for a bench
To rest my weary legs and my eyes on a fine view
Letting my mind wonder for a minute or two

Of these structures built be the hands of men
At first along the banks of the great river Seine
Some stand grand & mighty, others... well, small
Cathedrals, castles, palaces with their banquet halls

And stretched my mind further to this land yet untouched
And decided that this land would not have mattered much
For without the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, or Arc de Triomphe
That keeps hordes a-coming month after month

What makes any land stand above the rest?
Beauty? Or man's monuments & man to attest?
