Not That We Loved

Written: 09/11/2011

My voice, I heard, as an echo
Saying, "I'm just a man, I'm not a hero"
In front of my eyes a blinding light
I have to run, got no strength to fight

Forced into a life that you must pursue
All pressure assailing, not given a clue
Choose to hide, to rest for a while
Give yourself a chance to reconcile

Seek the source of purest love
More innocent than a spotless dove
So our hearts can go out to God & each other
This city, the poor, the nations, our least brother

In God we must place our whole trust
Not that we loved Him, but that He loved us
