Saying Goodbye (friends leaving)
Written: 23/08/2011
It was by mornings light we said our goodbye
But I could not bear to look her in the eye
She ventured beyond the horizons line
Here I am left to pray to the divine
Where she is going is still but a mystery
I don't know if she'll ever come back to me
As a pearly tear breaks free from my chin
It is a weary smile that I pass as a grin
The fading night reminds me it's a new day
And all the things I wish I could repay
So if she returns and needs a place to weep
My shoulder is free and my bed to sleep
I hope I am more than just a line in her book
For it was a piece of my heart that she took
I shall remember that voice which brought me woe
As the voice that taught my heart all it should know
- Friends
- Goodbye
