Shifting Shadows

Written: 11/02/2011

Like shadows shifting amongst rustling reeds,
My thoughts wonder with no particular path.
Returning to where they began,
As if in a mental labyrinth.

She stands alone, bold & beautiful,
Toying with me her smile lures me in.
And again I turn my back, walk away,
Her scent chases wishing to lead me astray.

Back & forth my heart, it takes me,
Never fixed, never knowing its desires.
Dizzy, left wanting, grasped by confusion,
And in restlessness, lacking peace.

My head, my heart, my feet searching,
Thirsting to find her to kiss her hand.
Eluding in the place of temptation,
Never can she satisfy.
