Sins of a Father

Written: 29/11/2012

Should now the sins of a father fall on the child
Condemning the youth for the deeds of the old
Even so timid is this one, meek and mild
Reviled as a being so cold

What then of the blessings highly sought
Passed down to the offspring free
To honour God is what the parent taught
And by faith believe

Should one accept the goodness of God
Yet receive calamity with scorn
Comfort is found in His staff and rod
And peace, in discipline, borne

Where then is abounding forgiveness found
Or mercy, like a mighty river, poured
In our Creator is all wholesomeness bound
And Christ Jesus our Lord
