The Sea

I saw her standing there
Eyes over the sea, feet in the sand
Her face with mourning tainted
Could crack the soul of a man
And so I said, "Let the rain fall
Let it go, if you can, there is no longer need to haul
Put your life in the sound
End the tears pouring down"
She looked, with a smile, and did say
Words which, in my mind, still echo away
"Sometimes when I close my eyes
I wish I could miss this year.
I close them tighter and tighter still
In hope the pain would disappear
I lost my love to the sea
Yet his voice still comforts me
I hear it in the wind and the waves
The moving mountains of uncountable graves"
