While I Gently Weep
Written: 20/01/2012
Oh what gravity draws me before Your loving throne?
What great force rends me cowering from this shell?
Yielding so reluctantly, so fearful of my hazy past
That I have misguidedly forgotten the welcome in Your arms
Such formidable passion that I cave in turning
With You to pore over the tracks of my humble path
Spying the seasons which fickly have come and gone
Signs of the changing weather ring out like the thunder
The good in each burst forth in magnificent splendour
Each different, each unique, each its very own
"You are not alone", says Your Fatherly hand upon my shoulder
As a broken heart rouses, towers in smouldering might
Oh what gravity beckons me a fanciful look
What great force compels me to pause and take notice
Behold in [the] deepest cracks where the pain began
A memory of hope, of joy, of no regret
Where love began, our heartstrings played the song we sang
Arise such times, such melodies with healing hid in their wings
And though I look back fondly it is through a veil of tears
Of the small hours past talking about our hope and fears
Of walks in the woods, in meadows, beside rivers
Crunching frost beneath our feet until one of us shivers
Sitting on a remote bench until the stars come swell to shine
Behind smoked glass content with what no longer is mine
