With One Last Breath

Written: 02/10/2012

With one last breath left to breathe
What would I say before this world I leave
For death finally comes on us all
As inevitable as befriending a fool

Should I speak solace for those who'll remain
Or will my silence be loud and my attempt in vain?
Should I restrain then and hold my tongue
Or add melody and let my words be sung?
Should I reflect on the life that shall soon cease
Or on the future coming after earthly shackles release?
Should I sow wisdom in those hearts at hand
Or would the winds of change erase what's written in sand?

For what can be made of all you'll have gained
Since to this world it is securely chained
Think forward wherefore your time will come
So that you might say "it is the good race I have run"
